Corona virus has impacted each and every one of us. The signs of reversal are far from visible. Several nations are witnessing second peaks and vaccines are still a work in progress.

Here’s how the pandemic has affected different aspects of our lives:

  1. Sanitizing, Cleaning, Disinfecting and so on and so forth!!!

Ever since the start of this pandemic, sanitization is the new routine. Whatever is brought from outside needs to be disinfected and then used, be it vegetables, groceries, clothes or fruits. Everyone uses some or the other method for sanitizing, some wash things with plain water, some use water with soda, some keep it aside for two or more days, etc. This pandemic has added another task to household chores. But we still do what makes us content and feel safe.

  • Mask, Mask …Everywhere! Every time!

Now while stepping out, mask has become more important that cash! Whether you are going to neighborhood market, or to office or for a walk in the park, you cannot step outside without a mask and a hand sanitizer. Even though Delhiites are used to wearing masks during winters (thanks to the pollution), but the pandemic has taken it to another level. It becomes a little annoying sometimes but we have no other option at least until the vaccine comes.

  • Parties, Marriages and Other Family Events…

Parties have become a thing of past. With several restrictions imposed by the Government (important to prevent virus spread), social distancing norms and our own fears, family and friends gatherings are either cancelled or conducted with limited people. Even major events like marriages, engagements etc are being postponed or family and friends are being included online. But can you feel the same joy online?! However, a hidden merit associated with this arrangement is cost savings, considering Indians love throwing lavish parties. The pandemic has compelled us to revisit our preferences and helped us realize who our closed relations really are.

  • Adventurous trips, Getaways, Vacations…

All the trips have been cancelled since travel is restricted. The tours and travel companies, hospitality sector are running losses. Several companies have closed down or fired employees, not only in this sector, but others as well. These trips were the things that families and friends planned for months and were excited about. The virus has taken this away from us and we don’t know for how long.

Even though this pandemic brought a lot of challenges, it has also taught us some precious lessons in life. I sincerely believe that human beings are fighters and we would all outlive this tough times. We must take corrective measures to ensure that such a situation does not reoccur. The world needs to get to the root of the problem and chart a way to prevent similar future occurrence or at least put in place structures to control its spread. May be after a few years, we may find ourselves narrating the stories of Corona times and even smiling about them.
