Expression Fiesta 2017


 

Expressions Fiesta 2017 commenced with Ganpati Vandana and lighting of the lamp ceremony, with Maj.Gen.M.P.Singh , motivating and encouraging mass communication students. The inaugural address was followed by screening of the first entry of mobile film making competition. It was followed b y interesting events such as Cartoon Making, Blog Writing, Storyboard, Singing, MonoActing and Photography. Dr.Amit Gupta , Chairman of JIMS Graced the event and distributed the prizes to the winners and one could see some of the most spirited display of camaraderie between the three campuses of JIMS when the awards were being distributed. Students were seen shaking hands with each other to bid each other goodbyes.  

 


Hindi Divas 2017


 

The college paid befitting tribute to the national language by celebrating Hindi Divas on the September 15. The function was organized by the students of Mass Communication department of JIMS. All the students and staff were dressed in traditional attires and conversed only in Hindi for the day. The celebrations began with students showcasing their talent in on-stage and off-stage competitions like Poetry recitation, extempore, slogan writing and creative writing. Students also sang few songs and presented a small skit on social issues. Other departments also took part in various competitions organized for the day.

 


PRISM 2017


 

The 13th edition of Prism, the Annual Film and Photography Festival of the Jagannath International Management School unveiled on March 24, 2017 at the auditorium of its Kalkaji campus.  The festival was organized in association with Institut Français and Ambassade De France En Inde. The well acclaimed filmmaker Mr Vijay Jodah and Ms Nikita Arora, CEO Webnell were the external judges for the event.

 The event started by the lamp lighting ceremony, followed by Dr Ravi K Dhar, Director, JIMS Vasant Kunj addressing the gathering. Dr Dhar cited various day today situations to illustrate that each one of us is a story teller since our childhood. Balance, he said, is one of the key ingredients of any story. Balance makes it a compelling story, he stated. A total of 60 films were screened in the festival. In motion picture segment the entries were categorized into Ads and Public Service Ads (PSAs), short films and long films.

The participants spanned Delhi University, IP and private colleges. Gargi, Indraprastha College for Women, Deshbandhu College, Masscomedia, Amity, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication, Trinity College, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS) and all the four campuses of JIMS.  Other than love and romance, subjects such as rash driving, homosexuality, leukemia, gender bias, sexual abuse, mobile addiction and eye donation captured the imagination of the participants. Particularly well received were the films depicting (a) the incidence of sexual abuse (ii) the real time story of a leukemia survivor and (iii) the journey of “Super,” a vintage car from Ford.

The festival concluded with Mr Vijay Jodha cautioning the budding filmmakers against copying ideas. Appreciating the originality of the ideas and their execution, Mr Jodha said some of the films showcased at the festival were at par with professional films.

 


Media Seminar 2016



Jims organised  11th National Media Seminar on the topic “Radio as people’s mass media in post liberalized India” on October 26, 2016, at IIMC Auditorium (MANCH). . The participants of the seminar were  Mr. Rajeev Shukla ,Deputy Director General , AIR, Dr R Sreedher, Expert Community Radio, Ms Shrinkhala Sahai, Content Manager and RJ, Ms. Akriti Jakmola, RJ Nasha and Mr Rahul Makin , RJ, Fever 104. The event was attended by media students from Jims Vasant Kunj and Jims Lajpat Nagar  fraternity.

JIMS has organized National Seminar on “Cloud Computing Technologies” on Saturday, 28 October, 2017 at India International Center, max Muller Marg, and New Delhi. The program was inaugurated with Welcome words given by Dr. Ravi K Dhar, Director Vasant Kunj. The Guest of Honour was Mr. B. Raghava Srinivasan, Regional Head-Education Institutes, and ICT Academy. The Keynote Speaker was Mr. Krishna Kant, Head, DELL EMC, Gurugram. The speaker of Technical session were Software Development Opportunities in Cloud Space, Mr. Manoj Jain, Software Development Director, Oracle Corporation, Noida, Recruitment Trends in Cloud Technology,Mr. Himanshu Chawla, COO,IRIS Global Services, Delhi. The vote of Thanks was given for the first session By Dr. Meenakshi Narula, Head, Department of Information Technology, JIMS, Vasant Kunj. And for Technical session By Dr. Harsha Ratnani, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, JIMS, Vasant Kunj. The seminar was full of knowledge on Cloud Computing, different services provided by different organization on cloud, its future prospects and different Career options available in IT Industry. Speakers suggested students to change Discover themselves, Re-invent themselves, to grow in future.

CYNET –The Annual IT Fest was organized by JIMS, Vasant Kunj and Lajpat Nagar on 17th March’2017 at JIMS Vasant Kunj. The event aimed to enrich and enhance the technical excellence of the students.The event started with the encouraging speech by Dr. Ravi K Dhar, Director JIMS, Vasant Kunj followed by welcoming address by Mrs. Narula, HOD-IT JIMS Vasant Kunj. Around 50 students from various colleges like GTBIT, NDIM, USAP, NIIT and JIMS Rohini participated in technical events with full enthusiasm and exhibited team spirit. CYNET embraced a number of events which serve as the best means to provide the students as an opportunity to portray their potential.All the events were a learning experience and they provided students with the required boost to their enthusiasm and fun as well. Events like Treasure hunt,Code Breaker and Web Weaver were the main attraction of the day. The HOD-IT, all the faculties as well as the students strived their best for making the event a great success. On stage events like IT Quiz were also conducted amidst various events so as to improve the knowledge of the students.

InterCampus Presentation Competition 2017


 

JIMS, Lajpat Nagar hosted the Inter Campus Presentation Competition on the 9th of October’2017. The topics for the competition were –a.) Waste management-need of the hour b.) User friendly apps changing the way we live. The six participating teams were asked to choose one from the two shortlisted topics. One could witness the high conviction levels of the participants in the passion with which they presented their views on their respective topics. The aptness of expression was complemented by skillful preparation of the slides. Graphical representation of facts and figures; relevant videos further added to the effectiveness of the speech. The competition was held on two levels: UG and PG.The first prize in the UG category went to Aayush Yadav and Viraz of Lajpat Nagar Campus and the second to Simran and Syed Mohd of Greater Noida. In the PG category the first prize winners were Lakshay Sethi and Shubji Jain. The event concluded with Prof (Maj.Gen.) M.P. Singh giving away the prizes to the winners.

 


Inter Campus Debate Competition 2017


"Demonitisation : A political game changer or a historic blunder ’. On the 1st of Feb’2017, participants from four campuses of JIMS engaged in rare battle of wits that left the judges and the audience virtually speechless. The event was the annual “Inter Campus Debate Competition” that saw 12 participants present their arguments in favor and against one of the most widely discussed topics of the year 2016 -”Demonitisation”. An eloquent mix of facts and feelings , the debate gave a clear glimpse of the passion & conviction that lay behind the well-chosen expressions. The most captivating part of the event was the defense-where all the participants demonstrated an equally fine presence of mind. The competition, this year, was held on two levels. On one level were the undergraduate groups; and on the other were the PGDM’s & B.Ed’s standing against each other. Competition being a competition, however, had to have positions –which made the battle ultimately come down to scores. So, after due consideration of all the parameters of the debate , the first position for speaking in favor of the motion went to Dhriti of Vasant Kunj campus and that for against the move went to Ritika of the same campus.The second prize was bagged by Areeba of Kalkaji (for)and Neerav Bhatia of Greater Noida(against). From the senior group it was Elizabeth of Kalkaji ,PGDM program who stood first and Debina(for) of Greater Noida campus -B.Ed program (against) - second. An amalgamation of wit , repartees and logic , the competition positively enthralled the listeners.

Chef Competition 2017


EGG LESS DESSERT MAKING JIMS Lajpat Nagar successfully organized Master Chef Competition for year 2017. Different Institutions & Universities from Delhi NCR participated in the competition. Students show case their skills & creativity in the field of Bakery & confectionery by presenting different eye appealing & delicious desserts. Hotel Management colleges who participated in the event were JIMS Lajpat Nagar, JIMS Rohini, Galgotia's University & Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology. It was a nice platform for budding chef's to have an idea of competition in industry & learn new techniques. Prof (Maj. Gen.) M.P Singh (Director JIMS Lajpat Nagar) & Chef Ujjwal Dubey (Pastry Chef, Future Group) were the judge of this event. Chef Ujjwal Dubey has worked with various renowned brands in hotel industry like The Oberoi's, ITC Maurya, Inter Continental & Future Group. He motivated the students by appreciating the dishes along with sharing his views & experience. He also taught students about various latest trends followed in industry. With the cooperation of Director Sir & HM Department the event was successfully accomplished.

Interior Design Exhibition "Design Santushti"


A Designer should be willing to experiment with various resources to simplify complexities and magnify the Diversities of Color, Texture and form. Keeping all these in mind the budding designers of Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences (Lajpat Nagar) organized an Annual Interior Design Exhibition “Design Santushti” at “Dilli Haat” ,Janakpuri, New Delhi on 25th & 26th February 2017.
The exhibition show cased various Designs of Decorative Mirrors, Glass Paintings and Painted Pots. On the other hand it displayed various innovative concepts and designs used in making furniture. The Budding Designers made a foldable bed with an attached study table an ideal solution for a Bachelors room, a highly thoughtful innovative bar which captured the crowd and amazed them. Impressive and colourful Chest of Drawer for Play school reception or Kids room. Touch of nature with use of wood for making Designer Center table added warmth to the display.
